OED
Free Diagnostic Tool

Something in your organisation
is already costing you. The OED
shows you exactly where.

Most empathy deficits aren't invisible — they're just unmeasured. The OED gives you a scored profile across seven dimensions in 10 minutes, identifying where your organisation's empathy is breaking down right now. No consultant required. No commitment.

The Process

Four steps to your empathy profile.

The OED is completed independently in 10 minutes. Stuart reviews every access request personally and sends a specific access code — not a generic link — which is why this is by request rather than open sign-up. What you receive is a scored profile of your organisation, not a generic report.

01
Request access

Submit your name and email. Stuart reviews each request personally and responds within one working day — usually the same day — with your specific access code and brief context on what the results will show.

02
Complete the OED

35 questions across seven dimensions. Answer honestly — the diagnostic is most useful when it reflects reality, not aspiration.

03
Receive your results

Your scored profile appears immediately on completion — with a percentage score per dimension and personalised recommendations for each area.

04
Optional: discuss the results

If you'd like to talk through what your profile means for your organisation, Stuart offers a free 30-minute discovery call. No obligation.

What it measures

The three dimensions and four contexts.

The OED is built on Stuart's Threefold Model of Empathy — the only framework that accounts for all three dimensions of how human beings actually experience empathy. Most training programmes address only one.

Head · Cognitive
Cognitive Empathy

The ability to understand another person's perspective — to know, intellectually, how they see the world. The dimension most empathy programmes address, and still often get wrong.

Heart · Affective
Affective Empathy

The ability to share in another person's emotional experience — to feel alongside them, not just understand them. The dimension most associated with trust, care, and psychological safety.

Hands · Physical
Physical Empathy

The somatic, body-level dimension that most people have never heard of — and the dimension Stuart's PhD identified as the missing piece in nearly every empathy programme ever run.

The three dimensions are then scored across four organisational contexts:

Context 01
Leadership

How empathy shows up — or doesn't — in how decisions are made and people are led.

Context 02
Customer

How well the organisation genuinely understands and responds to those it serves.

Context 03
Team

The quality of empathy between colleagues — collaboration, conflict, and care.

Context 04
Culture

Whether empathy is structurally embedded in how the organisation works — or just aspirational.

The OED is a self-report instrument and gives a directional read, not a forensic audit. A full Empathy Audit involves interviews, observation and structural analysis — but most organisations find the OED raises exactly the right questions to have that conversation.

Your Results

What you get — specifically.

Results appear immediately on completion. They are specific to your responses, not templated. No further input from Stuart is required to interpret them — though a call is available if you want one, and costs nothing.

📊
Scored profile across seven dimensions

Each dimension is scored as a percentage. You see immediately where your organisation is strong and where it is most at risk — across all seven areas simultaneously.

💡
Personalised recommendations

Every dimension produces tailored recommendations based on your score — specific, actionable, and grounded in how the Threefold Model applies to organisations like yours.

Optional discovery call

If you want to explore what your results mean in practice — what a realistic intervention looks like, what it costs, and what outcomes to expect — Stuart offers a free 30-minute call. No sales pressure.

Who it's for

You don't need to be a client to use it.

The OED is free because building a case for empathy training is hard — and you shouldn't have to pay for the evidence you need to make that case. It is useful at any stage.

HR leads and L&D professionals building a business case for a training programme or cultural intervention
Senior leaders who want to understand where empathy is working and where it is breaking down before committing to any programme
Organisations ahead of a CQC, Ofsted, or similar inspection where culture and care are being assessed
Teams where friction, low trust, or disengagement is present and the cause has been unclear — the OED often identifies the dimension in the first ten questions
Anyone curious about the Threefold Model and how it applies to their specific organisation or sector
Organisations that have run empathy training before and want to understand why it didn't produce lasting change

The gap is already there.
The OED tells you where to look.
